## How to write a holiday message to customers

> A good holiday message to customers is short, uses the greeting people in that country actually use, and thanks them before it sells anything. Add an offer or your holiday hours only if you have them, stated exactly. Check this year's date before you mention it, because many festivals move every year. When your customers celebrate different festivals, "Happy holidays" includes everyone.

1. **Choose the country and occasion.** The occasions most asked for in that country come first; every other occasion is still in the list below them.
2. **Add an offer or hours (optional).** A discount, a closure or special hours, exactly as you want it said. Leave it empty for a greeting with no offer.
3. **Pick the channel, language and tone.** WhatsApp, email, a social post or SMS; the page's language or another one, including Hinglish; warm, formal or playful.
4. **Copy a version.** You get three, the first the shortest. Fill any [square-bracket] slots, such as [date], before you send it.

## Occasions and greetings by country

The occasions businesses most often greet customers for, and the words people use.

| Country | Occasions | Greetings people use |
| --- | --- | --- |
| United States, Canada | Christmas, holiday season, New Year, Thanksgiving, Black Friday | Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Thanksgiving |
| United Kingdom, Australia | Christmas, New Year, Easter, Black Friday | Merry Christmas, Season's Greetings, Happy New Year |
| India | Diwali, Holi, Eid al-Fitr, Navratri, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Raksha Bandhan, Onam, Pongal, Christmas | Happy Diwali, Happy Holi, Eid Mubarak, Happy Onam |
| UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt | Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, National Day, White Friday | Ramadan Kareem, Eid Mubarak |
| Brazil | Christmas, New Year, Carnival, Black Friday | Feliz Natal, Feliz Ano Novo |
| Mexico | Christmas, New Year, El Buen Fin, Día de Muertos | Feliz Navidad, Feliz Año Nuevo |
| Germany, France, Spain | Christmas, New Year, Easter | Frohe Weihnachten, Joyeux Noël, Feliz Navidad |
| Singapore, Malaysia | Lunar New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas | Gong Xi Fa Cai, Selamat Hari Raya, Happy Deepavali |
| Indonesia | Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Independence Day, Christmas | Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri |
| Nigeria, South Africa | Christmas, New Year, Eid, Easter, Diwali (South Africa) | Merry Christmas, Eid Mubarak, Season's Greetings |
| Russia | New Year, Christmas, International Women's Day | S Novym godom (Happy New Year) |

Diwali, Holi, Navratri, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Raksha Bandhan, Onam, Ramadan, both Eids, Hanukkah, Lunar New Year, Easter and Carnival follow lunar, lunisolar or regional calendars, so their dates change every year. Christmas is on a different day for Orthodox and Coptic churches. Check this year's date in an official holiday list before you schedule a message.

## Holiday message examples

## Respectful and inclusive greetings

- Use the greeting the festival's own community uses, and spell it correctly.
- If your customers celebrate different festivals, greet each one in its own season, or use "Happy holidays" or "Season's greetings".
- During Ramadan, a message about changed hours or an evening offer is often more useful than a daytime food promotion.
- Día de Muertos remembers people who have died: keep the tone warm and respectful.
- Use religious symbols only when you understand them. When unsure, leave them out.
- Thank customers first, then make the offer. Send only to people who agreed to hear from you, and not late at night.

## Your festive offer brings visitors: let an AI sales agent answer them

A greeting with an offer sends people to your website with questions: what is in the offer, delivery before the festival, which product suits them.

A LuckPanda sales agent answers those visitors from your own pages, recommends from the products and offers you list, with the exact link as a button, and offers your main call to action, such as buying or booking, when they are ready. When a visitor leaves an email or phone number and wants to buy, it saves them as a lead.

*A visitor arrives from a Diwali WhatsApp message*

Visitor: Do the Diwali gift boxes deliver to Mumbai before the festival?

Chatbot: Yes, we deliver to Mumbai, and our delivery page says orders reach in 2-3 days. The gift boxes are 10% off until 2 November. Would you like to see them? _(Offered: Diwali gift boxes (button))_

**Turn festive traffic into orders** Build a sales agent from your website and test it free before it goes live. [See the AI sales agent](https://luckpanda.app/chatbot/ai-sales-agent)

## Questions people ask

### What is a good holiday message to customers?

Two to four short lines: the greeting people use for the occasion, a thank-you for their custom, and, only if you have one, an offer or your holiday hours. Sign it with your business name.

### How do I wish customers a happy Diwali?

Start with "Happy Diwali", wish them and their family joy and prosperity, thank them, and add an offer or your hours if you have them. On WhatsApp, keep it to a few lines.

### What should I write to customers who do not celebrate Christmas?

"Happy holidays" or "Season's greetings" includes everyone. Thank them for the year and give your holiday hours.

### Can I write festival wishes in Hindi or Hinglish?

Yes. Choose Hindi for Devanagari script, or Hinglish for Hindi in English letters, as many customers in India type on WhatsApp.

### Does the tool know this year's festival dates?

No. Many festivals move every year, so it never states a date. Where a date is needed it writes [date] for you to fill.
