## How a Google review link works

> A Google review link takes a customer straight to the form for reviewing your business. Google’s official way to get one is your Business Profile: Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then share. This tool builds a link from your Place ID instead, in the format https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= followed by the ID. It is widely used but not documented by Google, so test it before you print.

1. **Find your Place ID.** Search for your business in Google’s Place ID Finder and copy the ID it shows.
2. **Paste it here.** Add your business name too, for the Maps link.
3. **Test the review link.** Open it on a phone and on a computer, signed in to Google. It should open the review form for your business.
4. **Share it where customers finish.** On receipts, in thank-you emails, at the end of a chat, or as a printed QR code.

**The links this form makes from its example**

```text
Review link: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4
Maps link: https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Northwind%20Bakery&query_place_id=ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4
```

## Google’s own link, and when to use this one

| Compare | Google’s link (Get more reviews) | This tool’s links |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where you get it | Business Profile: Read reviews, then Get more reviews | From your Place ID, here |
| Needs | Access to manage the Business Profile | Only the Place ID |
| QR code | Only in a computer browser, per Google | Here, as PNG or SVG |
| Documented by Google | Yes | The Maps link yes; the review link no |

If you manage the profile, Google’s own link is the safe choice for print. This tool helps when you build links for several locations, or for a client whose profile you cannot open. The Maps link always works: it opens your place, where people can tap to review. Place IDs can change over time, so check your links once in a while.

## Messages to send with your link

Ask every customer the same way, soon after they are done. Replace the [square-bracket] slots.

**After a purchase or visit (text or WhatsApp)**

```text
Hi [first name], thanks for visiting [business name] today. If you have a minute, a short Google review helps other people find us: [review link]
```

**Thank-you email**

```text
Subject: How did we do?
Hi [first name],
Thanks for choosing [business name]. We would value your honest feedback on Google. It takes a minute: [review link]
[your name]
```

Never offer a discount, a gift or anything else in exchange for a review. Google prohibits incentives for reviews and treats them as fake engagement.

## Answer questions before they become one-star reviews

A question nobody answered, about opening hours, a delivery or a return, can end up as a one-star review. A LuckPanda support agent answers those on your website at any hour, from your own pages, and hands the chat to your team when a person is needed.

**Give customers answers, not a reason to complain** Build a support agent from your website and test it free before it goes live. [See the AI customer service agent](https://luckpanda.app/chatbot/ai-customer-service-agent)

## Questions people ask

### How do I get a link for customers to leave a Google review?

In your Google Business Profile, open Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and copy the link. Or paste your Place ID above to build a review link and a Maps link without opening the profile.

### How do I find my Google Place ID?

Search for your business in Google’s Place ID Finder, on the Places API documentation page. It shows the ID, a long string of letters and digits such as ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4.

### Can I make a QR code for Google reviews?

Yes. Google’s Get more reviews panel offers one in a computer browser, and this tool draws one from your review link, as PNG or SVG. Scan a printed test copy before you print many.

### Can I offer a discount for a Google review?

No. Google prohibits offering free or discounted goods or services in exchange for reviews. Ask every customer the same way, and let them write what they think.
