## How to translate website text

> This tool translates the words of one web page: text you paste, or the readable text of one public page (about the first 3,500 characters). It keeps headings, list order, prices, product names and links as they are, and writes for a native reader rather than word for word. It does not translate your layout, your other pages or your live website.

1. **Paste text or enter a page.** Paste up to 3,500 characters, or enter the address of one public page. Pages behind a login cannot be read.
2. **Pick the language.** Including regional versions such as Portuguese (Brazil) or (Portugal), Spanish (Latin America), and Chinese (Simplified) or (Traditional).
3. **Choose how formal.** Neutral, formal (Sie, vous, usted) or informal (du, tu, tú). Keep one choice for your whole site.
4. **Review, then publish.** Have someone who speaks the language read it, then paste it into your own pages.

## What it does, and what it does not

**It does**
- Translate pasted text, up to 3,500 characters.
- Read one public page and translate its main text. Menus and footers are left out.
- Keep headings, paragraphs and lists in order.
- Keep prices, numbers, names, emails and links exactly.

**It does not**
- Translate a whole website or follow links.
- Keep your page design. You get plain text.
- Translate text inside images.
- Show visitors a translated version of your live site.

A long page is read only up to about 3,500 characters, and the translation stops at the last full sentence. Paste the rest in parts. A page that builds its text with JavaScript after loading may have little readable text; paste that text instead.

## How to translate a whole website

For more than a few pages, translate inside your website itself, so each language gets its own pages.

| Your situation | What to use |
| --- | --- |
| A few key pages | This tool, page by page, then a review by a native speaker. |
| A site on a website builder or shop platform | The platform’s own language feature, or a translation plugin or app for it. |
| Many pages that change often | A translation service connected to your site, with a human review step. |
| Prices, checkout, legal and policy pages | A professional translator or a native-speaking reviewer, always. |

Give each language its own address, such as /es/ or /de/. Google recommends separate URLs for each language version rather than switching the language with cookies or browser settings, and warns that translating only the menus and buttons, while the main text stays in one language, can make a bad experience.

## Common website translation mistakes

- Word-for-word buttons. Use the words local shops use, such as "In den Warenkorb" in German.
- Mixing formal and informal address on the same site.
- Prices left in a format the market does not use. The tool keeps your prices as written; a US shop writes $1,250.00 and a German one 1.250,00 €, so change them yourself if you sell there.
- One version for two markets. Brazil and Portugal, or Spain and Mexico, notice the difference.
- Publishing with no review. One wrong word on a checkout or returns page costs trust.

## Answer visitors in their language, without translating every page

Translated pages help people read your site. Questions are another matter: they arrive in every language.

A LuckPanda support agent replies in the language the visitor writes in, using your pages as they are, even if they are only in English. The widget’s own words, such as its buttons and notices, follow the visitor’s browser language in English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, German, French, Arabic, Russian or Hindi, or one language you choose. Test it in the languages your visitors use before you go live.

Visitor: ¿Hacen envíos a México?

Chatbot: Sí, enviamos a México. Según nuestra página de envíos, el pedido llega en 5 a 8 días hábiles. ¿Quieres el enlace para ver los costos de envío?

## Questions people ask

### How do I translate a whole website?

Use your website platform’s language feature or a translation plugin, which creates separate pages for each language. This tool translates one page’s text at a time, which suits a few key pages or a check before you choose a plugin.

### Can I translate a website by its URL?

One page, yes, if it is public. Enter its address and the tool reads the page’s main text, up to about 3,500 characters, and translates it. It does not follow links or read pages behind a login.

### Is machine translation good enough for a website?

For a first draft, often yes. Have a native speaker review it before you publish, and always for prices, checkout, legal and policy pages.

### Does it keep my formatting?

It keeps the structure: headings on their own lines, paragraphs and lists in order, and prices, names and links exactly. It returns plain text, not your page design.

### Which languages can it translate into?

English, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Ukrainian, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) and Swahili.
