What a competitor analysis compares
A competitor analysis compares what you and a rival offer, say and prove, so you can see where you win and what to fix. This tool does it for two pages: it reads only the text of your page and one competitor page you name. No pages behind a login, no other pages and no outside knowledge. Anything the pages do not show is marked "not on the page".
- Enter your pageThe page that matters most: your home page, a product page or your pricing page.
- Enter the competitor’s matching pageCompare like with like: their pricing page with yours, their product page with yours. Only public pages can be read.
- Choose a focusEverything evenly, or one part in more depth: messaging, offer and pricing, trust, or support.
- Check before you actAbout the first 4,000 characters of each page are read. Check anything important on the live pages before you change yours.
What the tool reads, and what it does not
It reads
- The text of the two public pages you enter.
- About the first 4,000 characters of each.
- Through a safe fetch that refuses private and internal addresses.
It does not read
- Other pages of either site.
- Anything behind a login.
- Reviews, ads or social posts elsewhere.
- Outside knowledge about either company. It never guesses prices, ratings or market share.
So the result is a page-level comparison. A full competitor analysis also needs your own research: the competitor’s other pages, reviews and what your customers tell you.
Competitor analysis template
Use this checklist for the parts the tool cannot see. Fill one row per area, for each competitor.
| Area | Questions to answer | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | Who does each one sell to? Who do they leave out? | Home page headline, case studies |
| Promise | What is the main promise, in a few words? Which is clearer? | Home page, ads |
| Offer and price | Plans, prices, trials, guarantees, delivery terms. | Pricing page, checkout |
| Proof | Reviews, client logos, numbers, certifications. | Home page, review sites |
| Calls to action | What does each one ask a visitor to do first? | Buttons on key pages |
| Support | Chat, phone, email, help center, reply times. | Contact and help pages |
| Gaps | Which buyer questions does neither answer? | Your own chats, emails and calls |
Competitor: [name] ([website]) Date checked: [date] They do better: [one or two points] We do better: [one or two points] Their offer: [plans, prices, trial, guarantee, as shown] Our offer: [the same, for us] Questions buyers still have: [three questions] What we change first: [one change, who, by when] Our answer to "How are you different from [name]?": [two sentences, facts only]
Common mistakes
- Comparing different kinds of pages, such as their pricing page with your home page.
- Copying their message instead of saying what you do differently.
- Trusting old notes. Pages change, so date every analysis.
- Running down the competitor. Buyers trust facts they can check.
- A long list of findings and no owner. Pick three changes and make them.
Answer "How are you different from X?" in your website chat
Visitors ask this before they buy, often in a chat. The "For your chat agent" part of the result is a short answer built only from your page.
A LuckPanda sales agent answers the same question on your website from your own pages and documents. It says what you do, recommends one next step with a link, and saves the visitor as a lead when they leave an email or phone and want to buy. It never invents prices or features. To help it answer comparisons fairly, add a short FAQ to its sources with facts you can stand behind.

What is a competitor analysis?
It is a structured comparison of what you and your competitors offer, say and prove to buyers, so you can see where you are stronger, where you are weaker and what to change.
How do you do a competitor analysis?
Pick two or three real competitors. Compare matching pages: audience, main promise, offer and price, proof, calls to action and support. Note the questions nobody answers, then choose three changes to make first.
What should a competitor analysis template include?
The competitor and the date, then rows for audience, promise, offer and price, proof, calls to action, support and gaps, and a short list of what you will change.
Can this tool read my competitor’s whole website?
No. It reads only the two public pages you enter, about the first 4,000 characters of each. It does not follow links, read pages behind a login or use outside knowledge about either company.
How should I answer "How are you different from a competitor?"
Say what you do, with facts a buyer can check, and who you suit best. Do not criticize the competitor. Keep it under 60 words and end with a next step, such as a trial or a demo.

Build it with your AI agent
Give an agent your site and it can create the chatbot, read your pages and test it through LuckPanda's API and MCP. It prepares the work; going live stays with you.
Use LuckPanda's MCP server (https://luckpanda.app/mcp) to build a website chatbot for me. Ask for my website address, call chatbot_create_from_website with it, wait until the pages are learned (chatbot_source_list), then run a few test questions with chatbot_test_message and show me the answers. Do not put it live: I will do that myself.
